Texas Talk

Seriously, Texas has the prettiest skies on the planet. Seriously. Not Joking. This was on the way to the gym at 6:30 in the morning.

I think the first one could be the tree of life. :)

This week I noticed that my English might be picking up a little bit of the Texan accent. That reminded me of something someone showed me. This is how you speak Texan:

Read this out loud:

M-R DUCKS
M-R NOT
S-M-R. C-M WANGS?

So, what it really says is

'em are ducks (them are ducks)
'em are not (them are not)
'es 'em are, see 'em wangs? (yes them are, see them wings?)

Ha it's not getting that bad, but some people really do talk like that!

Anyways, this week our new mission president got here and we all met him on Tuesday. Boy, is he the mission president! I'm not really sure how I expected it to be, but he definitely holds the keys to the Mission! He taught us powerfully about how our mission call is inspired and that we need to step up to meet the call to hasten the work.

I have learned a lot from my companions this week! I am happy to see that we are progressing! I really like that they are motivated to help our solid investigators progress. One thing I really love is when Elder Olvera really gets into what he is teaching. It happens at random times, but all of a sudden he just gets really excited and the people can tell, and they love the energy they feel when he teaches! Elder Steffensen is very good at bearing his testimony in a way that it applies very well to the investigators! One time an investigator said: "I need to feel what you felt right there. I need you to get that in me so I can know too." My companions are really good teachers! We will be working on our studies so we can organize our teaching methods even more!

One thing I love about the Gospel is the Book of Mormon. As a missionary we are asked a LOT of HARD questions. Sometimes they make you think about your beliefs. But, I have been blessed to know that the Book of Mormon is true through the Holy Ghost. It is amazing how much that testimony means! If we know the Book of Mormon is true, we know that Joseph Smith and his successors are prophets. 100%, no doubt. We know that this is the true church with the priesthood power. 100%, no doubt. We can even have confidence in our own selves being where the Lord wants us to be because we as missionaries are called by the true prophet of God!!!

Another thing, Prayer is important in every thing!!! 2 Nephi 32:8-9 have recently taken on new significance to me. If we want every thing we do to be what the Lord wants we need to involve Him through prayer and revelation!!!

Anyways, the Gospel is True, y'all!

God Bless Texas! I am Elder Black. Thus I end mine epistle.
