moooochas!
These last week with Elder Aguirre I feel like I've learned a lot about the Bible, especially the New Testament and its role as a testament of Christ. Partly because I've been studying the New Testament, and partly because Elder Aguirre knows the Gospels so well, I have been able to have my testimony of Christ fleshed out a little more.
This last week was chock full of miracles!
On Tuesday we were looking for an old MTC referral, but we couldn't find the address! We were looking for a woman that lives at an address that just didn't exist! We knocked on the door of a house number nearby and a nice Muslim lady answered the door. We shared a little bit about the Book of Mormon, left her with one and asked if she knew about the address we were looking for, or a neighbor with the name we had. She said that she didn't know but that there were a couple of Hispanic families across the street that might know them. (Because the Hispanic community is tight!!!) So we crossed to the odd side of the street and knocked at two doors with no response. A nice Mexican lady answered the door at the next place and told us she wasn't didn't know the woman we were looking for. Well, at that point we basically decided we probably weren't going to find our referral, so we started talking to the woman at the door. It was amazing to see how fast the Spirit worked on her! We asked if she goes to church, and she began to tell us why she had stopped going to her church. When she saw that we cared about her difficulties and that she could find what she was looking for, she began to tell us about how hard her life has been these past few years in the United States. She was now living with her Son and Granddaughter who were also both suffering. We promised her peace and consolation and healing. We offered her a Book of Mormon and committed her to read in Alma 32, one of the best chapters about faith! By the end of our conversation she was crying and both her and us were saying that our meeting was not a coincidence. After we had prayed with her, she confessed that she really was the one we were looking for and that she wasn't sure how we got her information, but that she was just thanking the Lord that we came over! We went again
on Sunday with a sister from the ward and the two sisters became instant friends! She's going to be baptized in a few weeks, and we are so grateful to have been able to meet her!
There were countless other things I could mention, but my time is running out. I love all of you family back home, and as I once heard from a missionary: your friends are just the family you get to choose! Until next Monday!!!
God Bless Texas! I am Elder Black. Thus I end mine epistle.
