Well, this was my last week with Elder Dekker, and Elder Dekker's last week in the mission, and what a week it was!!!! Two experiences were especially special:
First off, we had an awesome lesson with a family that Elder Dekker and Keller found the week before I got here to Arlington. They live in a duplex. We were on bikes all day and we locked them up to a nearby pole during the lesson. It was a really good lesson, they want to get baptized!!!!!!!!! We are really excited for them! We left that lesson pretty excited!!!!!!!! We went up to our bikes and started unlocking them so we could head back, and we found out that someone had egged our bikes and popped all four tires! They also robbed Elder Dekker's helmet! Luckily the investigator gave us a ride home, but we're definitely going to have to replace the tubes. It's funny, I've always heard stories of stuff like that happening, but it's never happened to me!
Another one of those crazy moments was yesterday at church when we walked out of the Gospel Principles class. A recent convert whose mom we have been teaching forever stopped us and told us his mom wanted to be baptized the next day! We were super surprised because we've been trying to help her recognize the truthfulness of our message for a long time, and it was a very sudden decision! We found her in the lobby and started talking to her to see if she was really ready. She told us she would like to have the support of her father and her husband and her son, but that she was ready. We were surprised to actually feel and see for ourselves how ready she actually is for baptism, and as she shared the recent developments that have contributed to the sudden decision we felt the Spirit and stood there smiling. She is actually going to talk to her family about it, but she will definitely be baptized in the coming weeks!
