Sorry for all of you that don't even know her, but I just feel like announcing to the world: My sister is going to be a Spanish missionary in Louisiana!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy and excited for her! #siblingsinthefaith
Anyways, it's been a super-good week! We've been working with some new/returning members to get them to the temple! We're glad that they are desirous to go do vicarious baptisms, because they are going to have such stronger testimonies of the gospel and the savior! We had Stake Conference yesterday and someone quoted Gordon B. Hinckley, who said: (paraphrased) of all things I know of in the gospel, searching the histories of our ancestors and performing saving ordinances in their behalf is the closest semblance to the Atonement performed by the Master. THAT is neat. If the members we are helping prepare even feel that a little bit, they are going to progress by leaps and bounds.
In District Meeting this week Elder Lancaster gave a training on faith. He really loves Lord of the Rings and his training was on Faith and Hope. At the end of the training he said that in one of the movies it looks like all good guys are scared they're going to lose, and someone says, "It's hopeless." and Aragorn responds: "There's always hope." The Spirit was strong as he testified that there is always hope in Christ. He is about to finish his mission, and it has been HARD. He had a really hard mission, but he has hope because of Christ.
This week we also gave a blessing to a lady that has been going through a lot. It is amazing to see her hope. She has hope in God that someday her and her husband and her kids will be sealed together in the Temple. She has strong faith and her sons are probably going to be baptized soon. She is depending on God and knowing that this is his decision for her now.
Quote of the week: Elder Steffensen and I were on an exchange with Elder Marsh. We walked up to a door in a pretty gloomy neighborhood and all of the dogs on the street start barking at us. After a minute of no answer at the door and the dogs incessant barking, Elder Marsh turns around and, doing a kind of Jedi-wave thingy in the general direction of the dogs, he says: Peace be unto you, dogs. I kid you not. The dogs were dead silent for two seconds solid. It was so funny! So, yeah. Mission life is fun. But, if you're not having fun, you're not doing it right!
Last thing: Interviews! Baptismal Interviews are seriously the best part of being a missionary!!!!!!!!!! I get to see how people have been prepared and feel their testimonies. It's amazing to remember how strong a testimony can grow so fast and it reminds me of how the Lord is preparing people for a long time! All we have to do is pray and prepare to open our mouths and share the restored gospel. Anyways, there is this super solid family getting baptized this weekend and they are going to be the best members!
