This week we knocked a lot of doors! I never knew a missionary with as much experience tracting as Elder Duncan! The funny thing about it is: it works! Elder Duncan has been here for three months and he already knows just about every person that we meet! When we pick streets to tract he is always saying "We already tracted that one twice...twice...okay, this one hasn't been tracted for a couple months!"
Our efforts have not been in vain, though! We have found a couple of people that want to come to church and have promised to read in the Book of Mormon. One is a young family that we think would really contribute to the ward!
We have about 4 spanish-speaking families in the English ward here. (It's strange to go to church in English instead of Spanish!) Right now we have a second-hour class that is in Spanish, but it is the only Spanish-only meeting in the ward. For now our goal is to be able to have our own sacrament meeting. According to the Ward Mission Leader, we need 5 active, strong Melchizedek priesthood holders to be able to. We're really excited to hopefully be able to have this up and running in a month or less!
This week we also talked to a returning member who is the only member in her family. She voiced her frustrations with her husband and the things that have been happening lately. It was easy to see that the best thing for this family is for the husband and kids to receive the gospel! We're going to be teaching them and hopefully help all of them to have the same goal and ideal in mind: a happy, united, eternal family!
I love working here and I am excited to see the growth of the spanish work here in this area!! The Lord is definitely showing his power in helping with the gathering in!!!
